Once upon a time, there are eight immortals that need to cross the sea. One of the immortals challenges others using different methods across the sea. Each one of them starts throwing their own artifacts into the sea and using it across the sea. Later on, people use 八仙过海 phrase/Chengyu.
I have been working in an agile frame for awhile now, when people ask me what is agile normally I will use this phrase/Chengyu to do an introduction to them. Where, there is not just one winning formula, in order to achieve your goal. You should understand more about the “artifacts” or what I would like to call “resources” that you having now.
Speaking about Agile there always have some noise on which method is better than another. To decide which is method is better, you need to depend on the “artifacts” / “resources” in the team. From my perspective, the most basic resources to empower team running will be the people. If there are no people in the group then there will be no team, as simple as that.
So trial and error by testing different methods to figure out your team preference. Again go creative on it, you don't have to follow every single step or rule on the existing method. You can mix up some other things like :
- adding a daily standup notice bot to reduce the stand-up time so everyone can have more time for discussion.
- rotate hosting every week to ensure everyone got a chance to speak up and giving some ideas to run the next stand up much properly or better.
- Gather together to have a confidence check on OKR or even running a retro biweekly or weekly
As long as your team is happy with it or else you can remove it. So let your agile adventure begin.
